The Vision Newspaper

In the early 1990’s Phoenix had no community-based newspapers so one of the first project of the PCC was the establishment of “The Vision”, a free community newspaper that carried alternate local community news, sports, and feature articles. The newspaper was funded by funds generated from adverts. Articles in the newspaper were written by community activists, the newspaper was printed by Natal Newspapers and distributed to households in Phoenix by community volunteers. The newspaper ran for several years and was closed after or first democratic elections and when other local commercial newspapers began to emerge in Phoenix.
