During the early years there were a few private creches and very few if any community creches in Phoenix. In 1997 the PCC established the first community based ECD Centre for low-income working parents in Phoenix. With the creche fees at R60pm, the PCC Creche had an enrolment of 120 children. With no subsidy from government, the PCC held various fundraising projects to sustain the ECD programme. Our children’s Debs Ball, Concert and Sports Programme were some of the highlights of our fundraising programmes.
